据日经报道，日本AGC株式会社官网宣布，到2023年底，旗下关西工厂高砂事业所（日本兵库县高砂市）将停止生产LCD玻璃基板产品。

“提高显示器业务的收益是AGC集团的一个紧迫管理问题。” AGC执行副总裁兼首席财务官Shinji Miyaji在2023年5月12日的公司2023年1月至2023年3月合并财务业绩（国际会计准则）说明会上表示，关闭该工厂后，今后将把重点放在中国等海外基地的生产上。

据悉，该公司在日本有三个基地生产液晶玻璃基板，该工厂的停产将使AGC在日本国内产能减少一半。

该公司执行副总裁兼首席财务官（CFO）宫地真司先生将关西工厂高砂工厂的停产解释为，提高盈利能力的具体措施之一。

自2022年以来，AGC液晶玻璃基板业务收益持续恶化。财报显示，显示器业务方面，AGC电视用液晶玻璃基板和智能手机用显示玻璃出货量减少，销售额为358亿日元，同比减少92亿日元。

AGC称，由于疫情大流行引发的居家需求导致电视销售低迷，国内需求下降。此外，由于亚洲货币升值，原材料和燃料价格上涨以及制造成本上升，减少了对国内生产的需求，因此公司决定大幅缩减生产线。

此外，作为提升盈利能力的举措，AGC公司表示：将专注于盈利预期较高的大型面板玻璃基板业务，退出利润微薄的小型电视玻璃基板业务。作为第一步，我们决定终止高砂工厂的LCD玻璃基板生产。未来，我们将重点关注大面板的投资，并冻结其他投资，以加快盈利改善。

AGC Decides to discontinue production of LCD glass substrate products at Kansai Plant (Takasago Factory) in Japan

AGC Inc. (AGC; Headquarters: Tokyo; President: Yoshinori Hirai) has decided to discontinue the production of LCD glass substrate products at the Kansai plant (Takasago Factory), located in Hyogo prefecture, Japan, by the end of 2023.

The revenues of LCD glass substrate products have been deteriorating since 2022 due to sluggish TV sales as a result of the disappearance of the stay-at-home demand brought about by the Covid pandemic, soaring raw materials and fuel costs, and rising manufacturing costs due to the appreciation of Asian currencies. As part of measures to improve the profitability of this business, the Company is undertaking fundamental structural reform measures, including withdrawal from low-profit size glass substrates and consolidation of production lines, and this decision is part of those measures.

Production of other products at the Takasago Factory will continue.

Following this termination of the production, Other Expenses are expected to be incurred at the consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2023, but the forecast announced on February 8, 2023 remains unchanged.
