照明设计起初是由建筑衍生而来的分项专业，在所有规划案里都必须与其他专业紧密合作，包含建筑、政府、地产、室内以及客户，一个好的照明设计作品，这样的合作是缺一不可的，当我们在谈论照明设计专业不应只是闭门造车，应该更广泛与其他专业交流，藉由了解其他领域的需求与互动，将照明设计产业带往更为有效，更好的设计层面。

照明艺术 照 明艺术与媒体立面的碰撞
近年来的城市群像，媒体立面已经成为中国现代建筑照明的主流，从商业角度切入，它就像个巨大的广告招牌，将讯息肆无忌惮的映入城市夜景，改变街廓，一个成功的媒体立面项目，应具备什么样的条件？照明设计师在专案里又扮演着甚么角色？媒体立面的艺术化又应该由谁来主导？

Since co-founding Moment Factory in 2001, Executive Creative Director Sakchin Bessette has spearheaded the creation of over 350 multimedia shows and installations around the world. He leads the studio in a perpetual quest to amaze, inspire and bring people together by exploring new types of entertainment.
As Moment Factory has grown, now with 140 fulltime team members in Montreal, Los Angeles and London, Bessette has fostered an ecosystem where artists can strive, collaborate and evolve. His great responsibility is to provide guidance, vision and inspiration to the diverse multidisciplinary artists that have joined the team over the years, pushing them to think in new ways, create with passion, and make no sacrifices to mediocrity. The collaboration and cross–disciplinary process that he has put in place in the studio is key to its success.

Kaoru Mende was born in Tokyo in 1950, earned a bachelors and mastersdegree from Tokyo University of the Arts in the field of industrial andenvironmental design. In 1990, he founded Lighting Planners Associates Inc. Thescope of his design and planning activities ranges widely from residential andarchitectural lighting design to urban and environmental lighting. He is alsothe acting chief of the “Lighting Detectives”, a citizens’ group thatspecializes in the study of the culture of lighting.
Awards Kaoru Mende has received include the IlluminatingEngineering Society (IES) International Illuminating Design Award ofDistinction, Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan (IEIJ) Japan LightingAward, Japan Culture Design Award, Mainichi Design Award, and others.

Fisher Marantz Stone (FMS)
Managing Principal of Fisher Marantz Stone, has twenty-six years of experience thatencompasses both architectural and theatrical projects, including award-winning lighting for projects ranging from concert halls to transportation centers. He is a frequent lecturer at university programs and professional conferences around the world. Mr. Stone received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University with a Certificate from the Program in Theater and Dance for Lighting Design. He received IALD. Citations for the restoration of Carnegie Hall, the New York Hospital for Special Surgery, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, and the National Yokohama Convention Center, and the Korea Development Bank, and the I.A.L.D. Award for Excellence for the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City, the National Gallery of Canada, 100 East Pratt Street in Baltimore, and the new Hong Kong Airport.

旅游业一直是各地争相发展的产业，随着旅游业的兴起，酒店犹如雨后春笋般的四处兴建，随即也面临着许多考验，在酒店产业里，照明设计的工作绝不仅仅是创造气氛及汰换传统光源，而是如何透过照明设计带出酒店的核心价值，为消费者创造一个完美的旅程。

Nathan Thompson，IALD Design Director / Principal
The Flaming Beacon
Since 1975 Nathan hasworked with light in many fields, including corporate, theatrical and musicperformance, manufacturing, specialist contracting, art making, education, anddesign consulting. He founded The Flaming Beacon as a broader lighting practicein the mid 80s and has driven its transformation into a purely independentarchitectural lighting consulting company over the past 25 years. Passionate about knowledge, Nathan has taught atvarious colleges and universities, as well as presenting lectures atuniversities and conferences in many countries. In 2008/2009 he was the ArtFoundation visiting professor at UCLA in Los Angeles, and he is currently teachingin the Architectural Lighting Design master's degree program at HochschuleWismar, Germany. Nathan is a professional member of the IALD and a Fellow of the IES.
