Private residences bridge the desire for drama and comfort; warmth and punch. Each client is unique and wants to be heard celebrating their special moments and artifacts. Controls here can reflect the desires of the owners to adjust down to the finest detail with the ease they have come to expect.

Sources include natural gas, halogen, fluorescent and LED. All aspects of the home lighting are controlled through a centralized system. Keypads by all doors have the familiarity of wall switches and touchscreens throughout allow granular control. Automated shades and drapes attenuate glare on the west facing patio with magnificent views of the Los Angeles basin and coast. Budget took a backseat to the desire to have it all.

The house glows like a lantern with warmly dimmed decorative fixtures. Minimal accent halogens create pop in seating areas including the foreground veranda. Ceilings stay clean with minimal use of downlights.

The main living room arranges the social setting. Guests can see favored photos on the piano to the left while being drawn to the brighter seating area highlighted by trimless halogen accents. A special art light frames the piece over the hearth. Lights glow behind sculptures that flank the painting while having narrow spots light the features from the front.

This period addition evokes another time and place. Plant topiary is featured in halogen silhouette. This warmth balances well with decorative fixtures flanking the wine cellar entry.

A private wine cellar is made to appear like a cave from years ago. Wrought iron light fixtures help support the story of the old stone ceiling. LED uplights glow onto the ceiling creating a warm glow. Small cool colored LED highlights the display shelf for the prized possessions. Integrated lights in the displays to the right of the door feature important individual bottles.

Gas lanterns support the old world artifice at the main entry. A warm halogen glow inside invites the guest to explore and visit with the owner.

A reverse view of the rear yard shows the pool with fountain feature lit up. The table in the foreground glows from the accents just out of the frame while candles imply the source of light and warmth.
