Rumble, to take a glance at the world by wandering. Ramble is an album including many sub-albums, and this sub-album is about foreign architects who work in China. 我是Miranda Vukasovic, 我来自克罗地亚。我拥有以我个人命名的珠宝品牌，该品牌灵感来自建筑和艺术。同时我也是THE RADIANCE乐队的主唱和作曲人。该乐队成立于2015年，将视觉艺术融入音乐表演之中。

My name is Miranda Vukasovic. I was born and raised in Zagreb, Croatia. In 2016, I started my own fine Jewelry line that incorporates concepts from art and architecture. I am also the lead singer and songwriter of THE RADIANCE, a rock band founded in 2015 that includes art and visual projects into the performance.

2011年我申请到一家中国建筑事务所从事媒体专员的工作。来到这让我对这里多样的文化充满好奇，也渴望在这不同文化的熏陶下让自己更加优秀。我曾旅居多个国家，也被各个国家的美好而深深吸引，但中国却让我感受到前所未有的文化差异。当我创作的时候，我会将我了解的各种文化元素，以及我的经历和背景结合在一起。我想我未来的设计方向，会是探索不同文化的碰撞之美。

In 2011 I applied for a position of Media Curator for international architectural office. I departed with curiosity to discover a new culture and hope that work experience would help me to grow professionally. I lived in many countries before and have always been attracted by their beauty, but China was a big cultural change that really conceded me a whole new way to respect and learn from the diversity. When I am creating, I try to work with all the different elements of all the cultures that I interacted with, and culture of my personal experience and education. I think the new way forward is to emphasize the beauty among the differences.

在中国，长期的发展趋势给城市带来某种经济上的活力，同时让许多年轻人能在更自由更广阔的空间中探索，人们各抒己见并乐于合作。另外一点让我感到惊奇的是，中国的年轻人都事业有成，这使得这座城市更加充满活力，会迸发更多想法和创意。我们需要紧随城市的变化而改变。这一点十分重要，因为改变能使我们不断适应新的生活方式。同时作为一位歌手和作曲家，这种适应性的变化非常必要。在中国，你可以以更短的时间来适应这些变化，你有更多机会在建筑，艺术和音乐领域中实践。

I think Beijing is special because it is growing and developing, which gives a special vibrant and economic energy. The city is full of opportunities for the ones that want to explore. There is a certain kind of freedom to put in action the new ideas and people are open to collaborate. Another thing that is fascinating here is many young people are very successful in China, which tends to be rare in other countries, and that also gives city the energy and flow of young ideas, which always changing. It’s important because it helps us understand new lifestyles, and as a designer and songwriter it is important to understand the change, and to engage with that energy. In China you have opportunities to gain this experience in much shorter time, because you have more opportunities for practicing, especially in art and architecture, as well as music where practice is such a big part of the art form.

我热爱在这个国家的人们，在这里的外国人也非常友好和有趣，我喜欢这里的人从事的这些有趣的事。由于巨大的文化差异，这里的人都愿意帮助彼此。北京这座城市非常独特，在这里你可以发现很多有趣的事。

北京是一个非常国际化的地方，这一点让我感到惊奇。这里的外国人远不止美国和欧洲。在这里我感受到更多的文化融合，比如澳大利亚，新西兰，乌兹别克斯坦，蒙古，俄罗斯，乌克兰…融入北京就像融入了整个世界。

I love people in China also the foreigners in China are very interesting and uncommon life paths. I love the fact that you can find people interested in collaborating in different projects. In addition, a special camaraderie existing within the foreigners because the culture is so different, that people always want to help! The city itself is so unique that you can always find curiosities that are fascinating!

I love also the fact that Beijing is an extremely international city with not only people from Europe and America, but also people of many cultures that I have never been familiar with, such as Australia, New Zealand, Uzebekistan, Mongolia, Russia and Ukraine and many others. So you can really embrace a big part of the world.

在中国的生活让我更多空间去探索和发现。你的经历会使你的设计和表演更加真实而富有情感。在中国你可以与很多中国的艺术家近距离接触，他们非常乐于与你分享他们的经验心得。同时，越来越多的海外艺术家愿意来中国，（我）能跟他们交流也是一件非常荣幸的事。我很高兴在这里可以结识一些很厉害却又很简单和谦逊的艺术家们。

我认为京剧非常美非常吸引人。我结识过一位京剧艺术家，他给我讲述他是如何酝酿这种唱京剧的情绪的，那是一种非常浪漫的体验。他说：“我唱的都与爱情有关，我对表达爱情有特殊的表现方式。除此之外我几乎不唱别的形式，因为我并不擅长。”我认为这是我了解的中国最吸引人最诗意的事情。

I feel China has given me spaces to research and explore. Experience makes the design and performances real and truthful. Also I feel In Beijing it’s easy to meet artists who love to share their experiences, also I was lucky to meet many international artists, who are coming to China from Europe. I feel lucky that I can get in touch with people who are incredible artists but simple and humble.

I am also fascinated by Beijing Opera and I found it very touching. Recently I met an opera singer. He explained to me how he was trained for a character of one sentiment. And he said: “I am Love and I can only sing about love! I cannot sing any other character in Chinese Opera. I could, but I am not very good at it.” So I feel that this is so much of fascinating and poetic that you can find in China every day.

首饰，热爱建筑的另一种表现方式Jewelry is a way to speak my love of architecture

“艺术都是相互联系的，而我所有的设计也都与建筑与音乐相关。”

“All the arts are connected, and all my designs find a touch point with architecture and music.”

我喜欢首饰，对我来说，佩戴首饰是一个人展现个性的方式；首饰精美，易碎，珍贵，并且传达着个人魅力。通过首饰设计，我可以表达我对建筑学的热爱，这是我对热爱建筑的另一种表现方式。而这种更小尺寸的设计，让我可以精准把控每一个细节。

First of all I love jewelry and to me it is a way to express uniqueness; it is delicate, fragile and precious and it can communicate personality. Trough jewelry I can also explore my love for architecture, reflecting over recurring themes in this profession. The small scale of each piece gives me a possibility of full control on all the details.

我认为艺术都是相互联系的，而我所有的设计也都与建筑与音乐相关。我最近的首饰设计系列“Lines“，其灵感就来自于建筑结构中的线条，这些实体的线条围合出虚无的空间，同时这些线条展现出循环的特性。北京的CCTV大楼也表达了这个概念，建筑的立面也是建筑整体的视觉展现。

I think all the arts are connected, and all my designs find a touch point with architecture and music. My latest collection called “Lines” was inspired by exploring lines and their structural role in architecture, enclosing empty space within a visible corner. With the same collection I also covered the subject of loop. The CCTV building in Beijing that expresses the same concept, where the facade itself becomes a visual manifestation of the building’s structure.

我的新首饰系列将会讨论的主题是映射：物体对自身的映射及对其身边事物的映射。通过这个想法，我重新思考了首饰的设计理念。

My new jewelry collection is exploring the subject of reflection: the object that reflects itself and the object that reflects its surroundings. Through exploration of these two elements I think about jewelry in different ways.

在完成一个首饰设计前，你通常需要制作三到七个模型。而在中国，由于中西文化及审美的差别，使这个过程显得格外艰辛。但是你可以从珠宝设计到完成的这个过程中学到很多，而这个从想法，构图到最终完成一件与你最初意愿如此接近的过程也充满着挑战。有时你还要基于技术和等客观条件对你的成果做一些调整和妥协。在中国的快速发展下，人们只求效率，并没功夫在细节上精益求精。一件作品的价值在于细节和品质。而对于品质的追求，往往需要时间和精力。

The process of design requires at last 3 to 7 prototypes before the final and functional product. In China sometimes that process is more difficult because of different esthetic between the East and the West. But through the process of making the idea into real and final objects, you learn a lot and it becomes a challenge to create a product that is closest to what you had imagined and sketched on paper at the beginning. Sometimes you need to make a compromise or adjust your design according to the production techniques. I feel in China people are used to do things faster because of a sudden development. For quality, you need time and more attention to explore all the details, finishing and materiality of each piece.

音乐，表达自由的方式

Music is a way to express the freedom

“每次表演对我来说都是一次全新的挑战，因此我总是希望可以用不同的方式来演绎…每次用不同的方式演绎，经常会让我有一些全新的发现。”

“Each show is a challenge and opportunity for improvement.. it becomes a learning process for me and helps me to think and rethink why? and how？”

我一直很喜欢音乐，对我来说音乐是表达自由的方式。那是一种纯粹的表达形式，可以直抵人内心的真实情感。全世界都热爱音乐，所以你可以通过自己的音乐来和全世界的人交流。我的父亲是一位音乐家，我生下来就与音乐为伴。音乐还给我机会去改变一个环境，营造一种氛围。这也是我的设计背景帮我实现的。我认为音乐可以改变一个人，而一件物品却难以实现。一首乐曲可以直抵人的内心，抓住所有人的情感，而设计与建筑对人的影响却比较局限。

I always love music and for me music is an expression of freedom, it is pure emotion and can reach people’s hearts. All the world enjoy music, it is so special because you created a direct emotion and a connection to people who are listening. My father was a musician so I grew up surrounded by music. Music also gives me the opportunity to create an ambience and an ephemeral architecture for performance, this is where design and architecture play a big role. I still think Music has a power to change people, while you buy objects a bit less, so the relationship is more intimate in nature. A song connects us to direct emotions that we all can feel, that we all experienced, while design and architecture tends to be a bit more specific.

我认为中国和西方文化的混合给我的设计带来了灵感，而这里的艺术家们往往对探索和合作充满了兴趣。把不同元素混合所产生的成果要比单枪匹马更有表现力。最近我们举办了一场演唱会，试图用原创的歌曲和弦乐表达在文化交融中诞生的力量。我与六个来自不同国家的女孩合作，她们分别来自爱沙尼亚，巴西，巴基斯坦，意大利，英国，还有乌克兰，另外还有一个来自蒙古的男孩。我认为那场演出充满感染力，原因在于他们之间带有文化差异，却可以在同一个空间下以自己的方式演奏。和他们合作过程让我受益良多，其结果也更有趣，更令人着迷，也更具有普世意义。这种多样性融合的表演模式不仅展现了多样化的魅力也让这个作品更加国际化。

I think here the artists are more accessible and interested in exploring. I feel that trough the differences the power can arise. Trough my last performance in 600 years old Temple, I tried to speak about that power that is born from mixture of cultures. I decided to make a concert with my original music with strings and voices. There were six girls from different countries; Estonia, Brazil, UK, Ukraine and we also had a throat singer from Mongolia. I think it was a very powerful performance because of that uniqueness that each of us could express, with their unique vocal style and musical background. It was really engaging experiences, and I learned a lot from their interpretation of the same song. Unique way that can really express their roots, so it makes the show universal.

我尽量做到每次表演都有所不同，为此我会尝试把音乐和空间结合在一起。比方说，如果演出的场地有一座寺庙，那场地本身已经暗示了你的表演形式，音乐类型，乐器，以及表达的氛围。这时我会思考如何依据场地去决定我的演出。或者反之，有的时候我需要表达某种特定的情绪，那我会根据我的需要寻找场地。有时我也会根据我合作的视觉艺术家的需求寻找场地。有一次我和我的中国视觉艺术家朋友合作表演，我们选择了一个黑暗的展览空间，整个表演过程中灯光配合着我的表演而不断变化。

I try to make each performance a unique experience, so music takes a lot of spaces and time in my life. For instance if we play in a Temple then the place is already speaks for itself so the music needs to be soft and tender to embrace the beauty of the space. Then most probably we would do something acoustic, and according to all these elements, you start to create a show. You think about the feelings you want to express. We always search for different spaces to perform and we usually work with different visual artists. The one I’d like to mention is the visual artist from China-Hong Qile. We did a show in a gallery space, which was in a dark, while he was following my movements by the light. I was drawing with light in that show.

我喜欢和观众互动，在互动中我能把我的情绪传达给观众。但我也时刻记得我的另一个身份是设计师。而作为设计师，我也许不能直接和我的客户接触，但我可以从他们购买我的设计中了解到，我们在设计上有着同样的喜好。舞台表演是展现我两种身份的最好地方，因为我会穿戴我自己设计的首饰演出。

每次表演对我来说都是一次全新的挑战，因此我总是希望可以用不同的方式来演绎。对我来说，表演也是一个学习的过程，能帮助我成长，让我更加清楚自己现在所做的事情。每次用不同的方式演绎，经常会让我有一些全新的发现。现在人的生活节奏非常快，我们甚至没有时间去感受和体验，所以我们才更需要让生活变得不同。我学过十年钢琴，熟知很多古典音乐。这也让我有机会用不同的方式演绎，有更多不同的表现形式，也可以有更多的人可以懂得我的音乐。

I love people and I feel when I perform I can really be in a direct contact with my public and it’s a perfect moment. My cultural background makes me a designer. It’s a different way of interaction, because people buy your design but you don’t have a direct contact with them, you can only imagine that those people will have a same cultural references that attracts them to your design. Stage, sometimes, is a good way to practice both. Because I wear my design during my performances.

Each show is a challenge and an opportunity for improvement. So it becomes a learning process for me and helps me to think and rethink why? and how? I will express my art and what I am trying to communicate. The focus becomes much clearer, each time. The second thing is that nowadays people live out of experience, and people live very fast, so we all need something powerful and meaningful to capture attention. I want people who come to my shows, could be surprised and touched each time. I am classically trained in piano, which gives me the opportunity to do different arrangements each time, so I want to hear my music in different ways, and the music could speak to wider public, because more people can understand it.

在音乐上，我希望可以和我的音乐一起旅行，今年九月我还有可能与中国音乐制作公司合作。与此同时我还在创作新的珠宝系列，这一系列会在今年十月发布。另外我希望与Domani Casa合作的家具系列能够顺利制作并生产。

For my music I am trying to go on a tour. I might work with a Chinese producer starting from this September on my new music. At the same time I am also working on a new collection of my jewelry, which will be presented in October, called “reflections.” Hopefully also the collection of the furniture designed for Domani Casa will under production.

改变，就像四季更替一样Change, as natural as the season

“改变能让我成长，帮我写出好歌，结交新朋友，接受世界的不同。”

“Trough changing I can improve, and help to write better songs, to make new friends, to accept diversity. ”

我喜欢旅行，我希望旅行的脚步不要停下来，并能在旅途中收获美好的记忆。我希望我永怀梦想，并有机会一直从事我喜欢的事业，就像现在一样。我还希望我的设计可以被越来越多的人接受。希望可以和能带给我灵感的人合作。如果可以，我也希望可以有人在我的设计中获得启发并追逐他们喜爱的东西。

我认为人不该一成不变，就像四季更替一样，我们也需要改变。改变也许痛苦但却让人进步。而且对我来说，改变能让我成长，帮我写出好歌，结交新朋友，接受世界的不同。我曾在很多地方居住过，但每次经历都很美，也让我学到很多。

I love to travel and I hope I can keep on traveling and collecting beautiful memories. I hope I will always have dreams and the opportunities and I can always do the things that I love. And love will embrace my life. I hope one day I could be recognized by the work I have done and I hope I can work with people that have inspired me. With my work I hope I will inspire people to find in their own search for freedom and will go for it !

I always aim for adventure. I think it’s natural to change. Change may hurts, but through changing you can improve. And for me, change helps me to write better songs, to make new friends, to accept diversity. I have lived in many different places, each time I was scared of the change but each time I found beautiful experience and I always learned something new.
